CHIC caffeine : meet me in MEXICO CITY
Mexico City’s coffee scene alone is reason to go. full stop. And I’m not just talking about beautifully simple roasts and perfect pour-overs (though yes, we were fully moaning over a cold brew). I mean the kind of inventive, wildly flavorful coffee drinks that make you pause mid-sip. that’s what really stayed with me were the drinks that shouldn’t work, but absolutely do. a cold brew with pineapple juice at Panadería Rosetta …bright, sharp, gone within hours (yes get there early if you’d like to try).

must-hit cafes in CDMX
BUNA café rico - what a cool spot for an afternoon coffee run. located in the Laguna Cultural Center in Doctores, a renovated textile factory now filled with local shops, outdoor spaces for maybe a game of chess or a book, and of course, Buna Café. perfect for catching up on emails or just enjoying their locally roasted coffee…which is a solid 10/10, even in the simple brew of the day. next time, I’m definitely bringing home some beans.
Panaderia Rosetta - for all the breakfast things. and I mean ALL of them. but if you want to try the cold brew with pineapple juice, get there early it sells out within a few hours. Roma Norte district
Odette - the pastries? unreal. and the cold brew holds its own, perfectly balancing all that sweetness. also! don’t sleep on the baguette sandwiches. they’re as excellent, even next to those mouthwatering pastries. Condesa.
Mado Matcha - a pop-up matcha window tucked in front of their restaurant, Wabi Sushi. they serve traditionally prepared matcha, the kind you’d find in Japan, blended with yogurt, then then “lifted” with sparkling water. it’s unlike anything I’ve had and something I now crave almost daily. open mornings only, with an impressively extensive matcha menu. Roma Norte.”
Chiquitito Cafe - they have a few locations, all with equally strong offerings. I was personally addicted to their plain croissants, yo impossibly buttery and flaky, and their straight-up cold brew. perfect for starting the day or slipping away for an afternoon break. Reforma.
Kahwen - a super quaint neighborhood spot that’s quietly leading the way in inventive coffee drinks. packed with interesting sips and thoughtful bites, it felt like such a fun find in Coyoacán
