CAMO pant comeback: HOW TO WEAR them at 50+
It’s fall, y’all — time to break out the camo pants. This fall, the camo pant feels familiar, but also feels entirely new. The trick? Pairing them with pieces that bring personality, contrast, or thoughtful style.
Here are a few of my favorite camo fits — four ways that turn “casual staple” into something worth noticing.

Camo pants have range. The key is styling it with pieces that speak a little louder than basics.
1. Weekend mode : low-key, high style
army/navy surplus camo pant, Christopher Kane sweatshirt + Birks & All Saints denim bucket hat
My go-to sweatshirt with these pants has a rather large band of sheer stripes “slapped” randomly (but intentionally, of course) over my right shoulder ….giving an undeniable designer vibe, so it elevates the pairing immediately. It’s the perfect mix of relaxed and deliberate, a go-to fit for errands or coffee with a friend.
2. Camo meets Cut-Out
cut-out blazer, Jaquemus
Camo + blazer? Absolutely…a blazer with a twist — like a cut-out back — gives the outfit a little modern edge and a lot of unexpectedness which is always my aim. I’m all about the tailoring with the casual style & camo print.
The blazer honestly could be any color, camo is surprisingly very neutral to pair with. I have it worn here with a bright baby blue blazer by Jaquemus & flip flops out shopping for gifts. You can easily wear straight out to dinner with a simple shoe change.
3. Pattern Play, Grown-Up Edition
L : mens Goodfellow tie dye pullover
C : Rachel Comey pink paisley blouse
R : COS camp / bowling shirt
If that pic does not prove how neutral & versatile this camo print & pant is, then I don’t know what esle to say. The pink paisley blouse is one of my fave camo fits…I feel feminine (in camos yall!), love the lightness of the blouse and, of course, the unique pattern mixing.
Pattern mixing can feel risky, but I treat the camo print as a neutral or solid color. Like they are dark green, brown or black pant…making it a little easier to style with. Small-scale prints read as a solid from a distance. Adding texture & keeping the color solid is an easier mix to do with camo’s. With all three looks, they are all unexpected. It’s a tiny clash that reads completely intentional.
4. The Borrowed Shirt Move
mens Band of Outsiders button up shirt
Fourth & last what-to-wear-with-camo-pants hack…check out your S.O’s wardrobe! and STAT, you will definitely find some fun unexpected pieces!
any button up worn loosely unbuttoned or buttoned all the way. Also try a button up layered over another button up
any graphic tee, you can tuck or knot at the waist. I like to cuff the sleeves too.
and I will always borrow a yummy cashmere sweater. full stop.

Camo is surprisingly versatile — the key is anchoring it with tops that bring either structure, subtle pattern, or personality. Once you know the formula, it stops being intimidating.
