wear the damn SHORT SHORTS

there was a time when I only wore my short shorts to vacuum the house.

seriously.

they were my "nobody's going to see me anyway" shorts.

I'd throw them on to clean, maybe do laundry, maybe run around the house, but the minute I stepped outside? absolutely not.

somewhere along the way, I had convinced myself that short shorts belonged inside my house and longer shorts belonged everywhere else.

nobody cares.‍ ‍

not in a sad "nobody notices me" kind of way. in the most freeing way possible.

everyone is thinking about themselves. they're wondering if they remembered to answer that text. what they're making for dinner. whether they left the garage door open. they're not standing around judging the length of my shorts.

and once I realized that, I stopped saving my favorite shorts for vacuuming.

now I wear the damn things.

these days, they've become one of my favorite summer outfit ideas over 50. not because I'm trying to dress younger, but because they fit the way I want to feel..yo! comfortable, confident, and completely myself. that's what personal style over 50 has become for me…wearing the pieces that make me feel like me instead of dressing for someone else's expectations.

final thoughts…

if you've been avoiding shorts because someone decided there should be an age limit, consider this your permission slip to ignore it.

not because I said so.

because your clothes should reflect your life…not someone else's rulebook.

wear the bermudas.

wear the denim cutoffs.

wear the tailored pair.

or wear the damn short shorts.

whatever makes you feel most like yourself.

because style gets a whole lot more interesting when we stop dressing for approval and start dressing for possibility.
